Friends Don't Let Friends Use AOL!

Do you have friends or family members still using AOL? Please refer them to us and save them from busy signals, slow connections, relentless pop-up ads & unsolicited e-mails! (You'll also be saving them about $13.00 per month!) Don't worry if they love the AOL instant messenger feature, they can use that with our USFamily.Net, too! Please forward this e-mail to them or give us their name & address and we'll be happy to send them a set-up kit with a free month trial. Just click here:
http://www.usfamily.net/referral.html
One of the biggest reasons that we are able to keep our prices so low is that the majority of our new business comes from existing customer referrals. Your continued support is so appreciated!! Thank You! for your referrals and for all your positive comments!

USFamily.Net Office Location

USFamily.Net outgrew its New Brighton location and moved this summer to larger offices in Golden Valley. While our old support number still works the new one is 763-521-0401.

Important Virus Information!

Keeping your computer free of viruses is an ongoing task, but fortunately there are several excellent anti-virus programs available to assist you. One of the most popular anti-virus programs is Norton AntiVirus. One nice feature of Norton AntiVirus is that it can be configured to scan incoming and outgoing e-mail for viruses. This is a particularly important feature because many of the most notorious viruses spread themselves via e-mail.

Two of the most common viruses we see our users infected with today are the Klez virus and the Snow White virus. Both of these viruses spread themselves through e-mail. How can you protect yourself from these, and other viruses? If you already have anti-virus software installed on your computer, make sure you check for software updates and do a complete system scan at least once per week. If you do not yet have anti-virus software installed on your computer, purchase one of the well known programs. Almost any store that sells computer software will carry anti-virus software. Another popular scanning system "PC-cillin" is available online at http://www.trendmicro.com/pc-cillin/ .

In addition to keeping your anti-virus software current, keep your web browser and e-mail client current as well. The latest versions of Internet Explorer and Outlook Express can be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/ie if you have a PC or http://www.microsoft.com/mac if you have a Macintosh. If you are using Netscape Navigator and Netscape Messenger, the latest versions of these programs can be downloaded from http://channels.netscape.com/ns/browsers/. Most importantly, do not open attachments from an e-mail address you do not recognize, or that have strange names.  This is the main way viruses infect computers.

Please strongly consider taking the steps outlined above. The small investment of time and money you make now can avoid major problems down the road.

Help Wanted

If you're looking for a great part-time job and enjoy helping people, we'd love to hear from you! We have part-time positions available on all shifts and would love to talk to you if you have computer/Internet knowledge and great customer service skills. We have moved to our brand new office on Hwy. 55 in Golden Valley and can offer you a good wage, free Internet service and a relaxed work environment. If you are interested, please e-mail: lynn@usfamily.net with a resume or a summary of your skills & job history.

SPAM

SPAM (unsolicited junk email) is rampant but our spamfilters are catching most of it before it ever gets to you. Most of our users have their spam mail filters turned on (it is turned on by default when your mailbox is first created). Assuming yours is enabled, please forward anything you perceive to be SPAM   as expeditiously as possible to:  abuse@usfamily.net
We do NOT recommend that you attempt to follow "unsubscribe" procedures embedded in what is clearly spam, as they never do any good, and you run the risk of confirming your email address as valid to the spammer. Only "unsubscribe" from lists that you are reasonably sure someone in your family actually "subscribed" to.

You may turn your mail filter on and off at:
http://www.usfamily.net/spamfilter.html
If you have friends who notify you that their email to you bounced due to our mail filters, have them follow the procedures implied by the "bounce" message. Usually that involves clicking on an "appeal" link or forwarding the "bounce" message to abuse@usfamily.net.
