Previous Tip click here USFamily Tip of the Week - 11/21/2 This Week: Your Input is Needed Please!! Are you raising kids? Do you love watching movies with your family but find yourself shocked to hear swearing, even in G-rated shows? Are you uncomfortable or have a difficult time finding movies to rent for your family because of possible violence, sexual content/innuendo or language? We find much of this content extraneous and offensive to some people's rules, goals, or values and non-critical to most family video enjoyment. As a result, we are seriously developing a new online video rental service where families can obtain professional, digitally-edited versions of newly released movies cleaned up for near worry-free family viewing. As a by-product we would also have available the full line of regular unedited videos available like any leading video chain. We would most likely have a combination of both VHS and DVD. This is where we need your help! We have already analyzed the complex copyright and technical issues, what we need to know is if anyone out there is interested. Please tell us your thoughts and if this idea would provide value for your family or anyone you know. We are considering adding this service as a separate membership (unlimited VHS/DVD rentals for a monthly fee). All movies would be mailed from our central Twin Cities location (approx. 1-2 days shipping) and include a return mailer. Since we dont yet know what our exact costs will be, we are not sure of what we would need to charge but our guess is that it will be approx. $25/mo or less for unlimited VHS/DVD rentals. Because of copyright issues membership would be required for these edited versions. This would be a gigantic investment on our part but we believe it may be of benefit to an interested part of the community. This service idea fits right in with our business ethics and interests. Wed love your thoughts or ideas pros or cons. How many of you are willing to spread the word at your schools and churches etc.? Please click here to send your comments or let us know if you have any interest at mailto:lynn@usfamily.net. Thanks so much for taking the time to help us evaluate with this service!!!
Help Keep Your Children Safer on the Internet! The Internet is an incredible resource where you can find all sorts of interesting and helpful information. However, it is extremely important that you take precautions to safeguard your children against all the inappropriate material that is also out there. At USFamily.Net, we provide a free download on our Website of an excellent filtering service called "We-Blocker". We-Blocker restricts access to sites in seven different categories: *pornography In addition to these areas, We-Blocker gives you the ability to block access to any other sites that you dont feel are appropriate for your family. We strongly encourage our customers to take advantage of this free service. Go to http://www.usfamily.net/screening.html We also have some other recommendations to help protect your children:

Online Holiday Shopping The holidays are here, and the Christmas shopping rush is about to begin! Thanksgiving weekend is traditionally the busiest weekend for retailers. Untold numbers of consumers will be wading through clogged aisles in search of the perfect gift. Sound like fun? Maybe for some, but for those of us who dread the shopping cart shuffle, there is an alternative - shop online! If you are going to be shopping online this holiday season, here are a few hints to help you along the way: 1.) Make purchases through reputable retailers. If it seems to good to be true, it probably is. 2.) Read the retailer's return policy. If the you need to return the product, what fees might you incur? 3.) If you find a better price online, what are the shipping charges? Sometimes cost savings are offset by high shipping or "handling" charges. 4.) Look for promotions. Many online retailers offer special prices and shipping promotions during the holiday season. 5.) Use the Internet to research products you are buying. 6). If you buy from ebay be sure the seller has a very high satisfaction rating. (Avoid or check out sellers with a rating below 20 or even 100) Here are a few web sites to make your online shopping experience a positive one: Epinions - http://www.epinions.com - Product reviews written by consumers PriceGrabber - http://www.pricegrabber.com - Finds lowest prices MySimon - http://www.mysimon.com - Finds lowest prices Daily eDeals - http://www.dailyedeals.com - Lists promotions by various online retailers Safeshopping.org - http://www.safeshopping.org - Tips for safe online Amazon.com - http://www.amazon.com - Books and just about anything Ebay - http://www.ebay.com - The worldwide auction place GREAT GIFT IDEA!!
