Frequently Asked Questions and Bullshit "An Ye harm none" means that you must be a Vegetarian Pacifist to be Wiccan. No,  "Harm None" simply means that if no one is harmed then you are on ethically safe ground. Vegetarianism is a belief in its own right, sometimes compatible with one type of Wicca and sometimes not. Most Wiccans are capable of necessary nastiness and this is not Pacifism. "Wicca is a part of paganism".  Only if you are categorizing things. Modern Paganism historically developed out of Wicca. Both are inspired by Historical Paganism but not descended from them. Triskellion is like Celtic? Triskellion is like Druid? Triskellion is like Tibetan ?   Triskellion is like Greek ?  Triskellion is like Japanese ?  Triskellion is like Star Trek?  (Say this one and I will hit you). Triskellion is the name for a geometric figure like a square or circle. Many people and cultures have and still do use it. Triskellion Wicca is inspired in part by the Greek Gods and Myths.   "Only a witch can make a witch"   NO, it is not that simple. "I am a witch just because I say so"   NO, it is not that simple. "Self Initiation is valid"  NO.  Self Dedication is possible and often praiseworthy but  Initiation is something that a person can not do for themselves. To perform an Initiation requires moderately advanced ritual skills and a workable formula for initiation. Most Initiates do not have the ability to Initiate others but they do have an edge over non Initiates who might be able to perform an Initiation anyway. "I have been into Wicca for twenty years on my own and I am only 16!"  This may get you respect among Pagans.  Here, time spent on your own has meaning to you but not to us.  We will judge you on what you understand and can do. "I have read three books on Wicca!"  Good, you can read. Books can teach only so much,  beyond that it is teachers, the coven and experience. Most modern books are nothing more than a rehash of older books that are a rehash of still older books! " I have been practicing Wicca since I was 6 years old! " With that much practice when do you expect to get it right? Besides that,  just what are you practicing? Blowing soap bubbles?   "I want to do My thing My way".   Fine. You do not need a teacher or books or the company of others. The Gobi Desert awaits you. For everyone else there are compromises, negotiations and adaptations. Is training worth the price you must pay?  Respect for the teacher is part of the price. Group support is wonderful but the price is a part of your own  freedom. You can not do exactly as you want, other people are involved. Is what you are getting worth what you are paying?  Make your choices and live with them. Choosing and then whining or throwing a fit is cheating.  You are not paying full price.
