'Winter '73'

Liner Notes

History:

This song was written in the Baldwin, New York house mentioned in Steppin' In and Out of Time. It was obviously written in December 1973. I remember looking out the west-facing windows of our "apartment" on the second floor as the sun was setting through the branches of distant trees. It was very striking and I stood there and began to write the first lines in my head before working it all out on the guitar.

This would have been right around the time of Anne's first (since I knew her) major illness. It was a serious complication of childbirth and my first encounter with "faith healing". The healing was accomplished through prayer and meditation and was entered into by Anne and myself and various family members. It was successful.

Recording Notes:

This recording was made in the basement studio of our Rockville Center house in New York. It is just my old Gibson guitar and a vocal track.
