What can I say about this? All I can think of is how I used to listen to Doctor Demento when we lived in LA. I should send him a CD of this song and see if he plays it.
I could mention the Alfred Hitchcock angle ("...they ate the evidence..."), but if I need to explain that, it isn't really funny anymore. You had to be there, I think. Although, when Jimmy Buffet sings about "writing fan letters to Sky's niece, Penny" (not to mention Boston Blackie) in his song "Pencil Thin Mustache", people like the image even when they don't get the reference.
Recording Notes:
This recording is from the same session as I Will Testify. It happened during a visit to Minnesota from New York. My older brother, Jim, set up a session in a studio he had access to and my younger brother, Brian, and I rehearsed these two songs and went in to record them.
Musicians:
Brian Bergeron
- Drums.
Rick Holton
- Acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar and vocals.
