A Country Party.

         A good time was enjoyed on Sunday, June 22, by a company of relatives at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Pancake, who live five miles south of the city. The guests were the parents and other close relatives of Mr. Pancake, from near Convoy, Ohio. They arrived at the Pancake home with well filled baskets of dinner and a feast of good things was spread that would do justice to many more people. There were present Mr. and Mrs. Allen Pancake, Mr. and Mrs. Abe Pancake, Mr. and Mrs. James Pancake, Mr. and Mrs. Will Pancake, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pancake, Mr. and Mrs. George Bummel [sic, Rummel], Miss Itura Pancake, Theadore Krohn, Russell Pancake and the following children: Donald, Clarence, Wilbur, Harold, Lela, Ada, Dorothy and Leona Pancake. Music was furnished by Miss Itura Pancake and Mrs. Will Pancake.

          John Pancake, well known resident of Van Wert county, died last night, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Bert Holmes, of Pleasant township, after being in ill-health for several months. Mr. Pancake was born in Harrison township and had resided in this county his entire lifetime. His direct survivors are four daughters, Misses Charlotte and Martha Pancake, of Van Wert, Mrs. Ruth Gabey, of Indiana, and Mrs. Paul Lichtensteiger, of Harrison township, one son, Aaron Pancake, of Pleasant township, and two sisters, Mrs. Holmes, of Pleasant township, and Mrs. John Rummel, of Convoy. He was preceded in death by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Harry Ramsey, of Harrison township. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Harrison township. Interment at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Dale Martin

     VAN WERT, Sept. 25--Mrs. Dale Martin, 30, died of complications, Friday, at her home in Van Wert. She was a native of Harrison-tp and a graduate of Tully-Convoy high school.
     Surviving are her husband; a son, Roger; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pancake of Harrison-tp; two sisters, Mrs. Herbert Lyons of Van Wert and Marie Pancake, at home; and three brothers, Clarence at home, Corp. Vernon Pancake of Ft. Mason, Calif., and Pvt. Wilbur Pancake of Camp Chaffee, Ark.
     Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the home conducted by Dr. E. E. Snyder, pastor of St. Marks Lutheran church. Interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery.

RUMMEL
     CONVOY - Mrs. Myra Rummel, 84, of Convoy, died at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Van Wert County Hospital where she had been admitted Saturday evening. She had been ill for several years.
     Mrs. Rummel, daughter of Aaron and Hannah (Capper) Pancake, was born January 13, 1874, in Harrison Township and she was a lifetime resident of Van Wert County. Her husband, John Rummel, whom she married April 11, 1900, died in 1954.
     She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Fidelitas Guild and the Women's Missionary Society.
     Her only survivors are a number of nieces and nephews. A brother and two sisters are deceased.
     Rites will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rev. Guy M. Lubold to officiate. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery.
     Friends may call at the H. D. Smith Funeral Home in Convoy after 7 p.m. today. The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

ELIZABETH PANCAKE

     CONVOY - Elizabeth Pancake, 77, of Van Wert died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday in Van Wert County Hospital where she had been a patient for one week.
     Born Jan. 25, 1883 in Tully Township, she was a lifetime resident of Van Wert County.
     She married Albert Pancake Nov. 23, 1902.
     Surviving are her husband; three sons, Clarence, at home, Wilbur, Rt. 2, Convoy, and Vernon, Grabill, Ind.; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Whittenbarger, Rt. 2, Convoy, and Mrs. Edith Lyons, Convoy; two half-brothers, Paul Fridly of Mendon, and Adolf Fridly of Celina; two half-sisters, Nora and Selma, Rt. 1, Convoy; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
     She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Harrison Township and its women's Sunday school class.
     Services will be held at the church at 3 p.m. Monday. Guy M. Lubold will officiate with burial in Convoy IOOF Cemetery.
     Friends may call at the H. D. Smith Funeral Home after 1 p.m. today.
     The body will be taken to the church one hour preceding services.

ALBERT PANCAKE

     CONVOY - Albert (Shorty) Pancake, 87, of 404 Franklin St. in Convoy, died at 4:30 p. m. Tuesday in Van Wert County Hospital. He had been in ill health for two years.
     Born Dec. 10, 1879, in Harrison Township, he was the son of Allen and Adaline (Sheets) Pancake. He was married on Nov. 23, 1902, to Elizabeth Friedly. She preceded him in death.
     Survivors include two sons, Clarence and Wilbur of Rt. 2, Convoy; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Marie) Whittenbarger of Rt. 2, Convoy, and Mrs. Herbert (Edith) Lyons of Convoy; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
     Mr. Pancake was a retired farmer and a tree and stump-dynamiter. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Convoy.
     Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Dean Cheek to officiate.
     Burial will be in the Convoy IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home in Convoy after 7:30 p.m. today. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services. The casket will not be opened at the church.
