John H. Willis

     Services were held Sunday afternoon in the Cheney Funeral Home for John H. Willis, 65, of West Ottawa St. Mr. Willis died at 12:15 a.m. Friday in Marion General Hospital. He had been ill for the past year.
     Mr. Willis was the owner of the Willis Used Furniture Store. He was a member of the Salida Baptist Church in Lawrence County.
     Born March 25, 1903 in Lawrence County, he was the son of William and Minnie Sipes Willis. In 1930 in Ironton, O., he married Ethel E. Pancake, who survives.
     Also surviving is a son, Landon, of Richwood; two daughters, Mrs. June Deel of Delaware and Mrs. Helen Eulett of Oak Harbor, O. and five grandchildren. One son and a sister are deceased.
     Bro. Hubert Granger officiated at the services. Burial was in Price Cemetery.

Richwood Man Is Killed At Erie RR Crossing

     Landon E. Willis, 32, of W. Ottawa St. was pronounced dead on arrival at Union Memorial Hospital last Sunday night by Coroner Malcolm MacIvor. Willis was killed when he apparently drove his car into the path of a southbound Erie-Lackawanna freight train at the W. Ottawa St. crossing. The accident happened about 8:25 p.m.

     Willis operated a used furniture business, West End Furniture, on W. Ottawa St. He was also employed by Ranco Inc., Delaware.
     A member of the First Baptist Church, Willis was born July 15, 1936 in Maion (sic) County to oJhn (sic) H. and Ethel Pancake Willis.
     Surviving is his mother, living in Richwood, two sisters, Helen Eulett of Oak Harbor and June Deel of Delaware; 5 nephews and a niece.
     Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Ballinger Funeral Home, Rev. Lester Norton officiating. Burial was in Price Cemetery.

ETHYL E. WILLIS

     Ethyl E. Willis, 94, formerly of Richwood, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at The Gables at Green Pastures.
     She had worked at Sawyer's Sanitarium and Spain's 5 and 10 Cent Store in Richwood. She was a member of the Leatherwood Baptist Church in Ironton.
     She was born May 12, 1907, in Ironton to the late Abe and Murdie Pemberton Pancake and was predeceased by two sons, Landon and Damon Willis; two brothers; and a sister. She married John Willis in 1930 and he died in 1969.
     She is survived by two daughters, June Mann of Alabama and Helen Eulett of Toledo; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
     At the family's request, there will be no public visitation or funeral.
     Arrangements are being handled by the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood.
