Strenuous Time In Marrying A Couple
It was a strenuous time that Squire Henry Hall had tying the knot for Manse Cantrell and Miss Grace Pancake at the home of the former's parents at No. 633 East Eighth street Wednesday night.
The squire had just left his office late in the afternoon for home when he received word that a couple awaited him. Straightway he hurried back only to find the young couple had not yet supplied themselves with a license. He accompanied them to the court house and expected to make them man and wife then and there but it was not to be. The young woman said she was not the intended bride and had merely accompanied Cantrell.
It was then arranged that the wedding take place at 6:30. The squire hurriedly shaved, ate his supper and reached the home right on time. He found the household considerably agitated over the non-appearance of the groom. The squire whiled away the time in the parlor while the preparations for the wedding were going on in the other parts of the house.
Various persons were dispatched to find the young groom and he finally showed up at 8 o'clock garbed in his soldier's uniform. He had fallen in with some old associates and started an advance celebration of his marriage. The marriage ceremony followed and it was full nine o'clock before the magistrate took his leave. Cantrell is a member of the U. S. engineering corps and home from the West on a furlough.

COULDN'T GET ALONG; DIVORCED
Grace Cantrell was granted a divorce by Judge Thomas Thursday morning. Her husband, Mance Cantrell, was brought into court to say why they could not live together. He said he could not say a word of harm against his wife's reputation, but for some reason, and he could not tell why, they could not get along together. He had been in the army for several years, and married this girl while he was home on a furlough, and they never could get along happily. Under the circumstances the court thought best to grant a divorce.
