Obituary of Calvin L. Pancake

CALVIN PANCAKE RITES WERE HELD SUNDAY

Had been a resident of Baldwin for seventeen years; died after long illness.

       Final rites were held Sunday at the Stanley Funeral Home for Calvin L. Pancake, 81, who died August 29 after a long illness. The service was conducted by Rev. Frank Waring of Valley Falls and internment was made in Oakwood cemetery.
       Pallbearers were A. H. Steele, Russell Sanders, C. N. Murray, Robert Randel, Fred Eggleston and Ted Brown. Mrs. Russell Greer and Mrs. Leonard Whitted sang three songs at the service accompanied by Miss Lenora Williams.
       Mr. Pancake was born in Lawrence, Ohio on September 16, 1864. He came to Kansas with his parents when he was thirteen years of age and settled in Clay county. He was married to Eva Pelley of Clay Center on January 16, 1890. They lived in Clay county until seventeen years ago when they moved to Baldwin.
       Survivors are his wife of the home; three sons, Calvin L. of Garnett, Clarence W. of Enterprise, and Archie N. of Baldwin; two daughters, Belle Cunningham of Iola and Cecile Mae Randel of Baldwin; seventeen grandchildren, one great grand child. Two daughters died in infancy.
