Rites here for Colonel Gasman, retired engineer
Funeral services for Colonel H. Gasman, 80, long-time Glenwood resident, were held April 11 at Glenwood Lutheran church, with Rev. Roger Grow officiating.
Mr. Gasman died in his sleep at the Glenwood Retirement home April 9. He was a resident of the home for three months while recovering from a stroke he suffered in November.
The music was provided by Leo Sylvester, soloist, and Mrs. Margot Wells, organist.
Interment was in the Glenwood Lutheran cemetery with Warren Haugen, Oscar Muri, Arthur Osmoe, Gordon Ronnie, Howard Williams and Arbie Anderson as pallbearers.
Mr. Gasman was born in Elbow Lake on Dec. 18, 1891. The family moved to Minneapolis where he grew up. He later homesteaded in Canada. A fire destroyed his house, barn and livestock; forcing him to return to Minneapolis where he took a number of different jobs; until he started working for the Soo Line. He then moved to Glenwood and after 40 years of service with the Soo Line he retired as an engineer.
He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Majel) Billehus of Glenwood; and one grandson, Ken Billehus of Minneapolis.
Out-of-town people were from Starbuck, Cyrus, Alexandria, Morris, Minneapolis, Elbow Lake, Benson and Sedan.
