Amy Pankake

Amy Pankake was born on November 17, 1893, in Swede Grove Township, Meeker County, the daughter of Hans and Johanna Ornberg. With her parents and brothers and sisters she grew up on a farm near Grove City.

Both she and her husband were people who loved farming -- the independence, the pioneer spirit, the side by side, husband and wife working relationship; the privilege of working with animals with many of them becoming personal pets rather than just farm animals. With this love for farming, following marriage they moved to a farm near Forest City and later they farmed near Grove City.
While living in Grove City Amy was a member of the Grove City Sunshine Club which met for the purpose of fellowship, sewing and projects to bring happiness to others.
Following Edwin's death on December 26, 1966, she moved to an apartment in Litchfield. Over the past few months she entered the hospital and from there she became a resident at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield. Amy died on Thursday, August 11, 1982, at the age of 88 years, 8 months, and 25 days.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters and three brothers. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
