Dick Coyner of Yuba City, California found this photograph, with the name "Lula Pancake" written on the back, in his late mother-in-law's photo album. The name of the photography studio imprinted in the lower right hand corner is "Parker, Baker, Ore."

Dick writes: "We have not been able to place her. With the ring, Pancake is possibly her married name. Baker, Oregon (now known by the old name of Baker City) is in eastern Oregon on the Oregon Trail. My Mother-in-law grew up in that area, so they (Lula & she) may have been school mates. In any case, she certainly belongs to someone in the family & not lost in a drawer."

On December 21, 2001 Lula's grandson, Greg Lindsay was killing some time on the Internet and put his grandmother's name in a search engine and up popped this webpage. I have since mailed the original photograph to him.

Here are some of the details of Lula's life provided by Greg and his sister Pamela: Lula was born on August 19th, 1897 to Bruce and Anna (Mehlhorn) Pancake. She grew up in Halfway, Oregon and married Floyd Lindsay. She and Floyd had two children, Merton and Norma. Lula passed away on May 22, 1991 in Washington County, Oregon and is buried in Portland.

Greg forwarded this photograph of Lula and her daughter Norma taken in 1985:
