Funeral services for James R. Pancake, 59, were held at St. Matthew's United Church of Christ on Wednesday, July 20 at 2 p.m. Rev. Rudolph Hohmann officiated at the service.
Special music was furnished by Mrs. Julius Marquardt and Mrs. Harlan Johnson.
Pallbearers were Norman Pancake, Marvin Pancake, Leslie Arens, Alvin Shipp, Virgil Rettig, Vernon Bellows.
Interment was in Forest City cemetery.
James R. Pancake was born October 16, 1900 in Forest Prairie township, Meeker county. He spent his youth in Meeker County and attended school in District 84. He made his home in Minneapolis for 20 years where he worked as a fireman on a stationary steam boiler at the Minneapolis Brewing Co. He also owned a resort on Clear Lake near Watkins for 10 years.
Mr. Pancake passed away on July 17, 1960, after a illness of about three weeks. He is survived by his wife, Lillian to whom he had been married 36 years. Two daughters; Marjorie (Mrs. Arnold Christian), Alta (Mrs. Kenneth Erickson); one son, Kenneth J. Pancake, all of Minneapolis; Two brothers, Alonzo of Litchfield and George of Malta, Montana; two sisters, Mrs. Louis Inselman of Kerkhoven and Mrs. Emma Hake of Spokane, Washington. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
