March 14, 1895:

          The farm house of Geo. Pancake was destroyed by fire early yesterday morning, entailing a loss of $2,000 which is partially covered by insurance. The farm house was situated three miles south of Monroeville.


January 8, 1903:

A Monroe Township Event.
          The Baker homestead in Monroe township was the scene of a merry social gathering yesterday. Mrs. S. F. Baker, widow of the late county commissioner, observed her seventieth birthday anniversary and her sister, Mrs. George Pancake, also celebrated her birthday anniversary. Many beautiful presents were showered upon these two estimable ladies. Sheriff D. C. Stout and wife, Mrs. Jennie Imler, Mr. and Mrs. I. M. Bailey and daughters, Misses Della and Agnes, were the Fort Wayne guests. The other guests were Messrs. and Mesdames Frank Finton, William Wagner, David Crabill, Walter Rider, John Bailey, William Baker, William Pancake, William Rider, C. S. Baker, David Clem and E. Friedline, and Mesdames Lizzie Krauter, Sarah Baker, Ben Crabill, Misses Viola Baker, Della Bailey, Mary Cox, Agnes Crabill, Ethel Baker, Liza Crabill, Alice Pancake, Mary Pancake, Messrs. Clarence Bailey, Harry Keever, Will Bailey, William Rider, S. F. Bailey, Plim Baker, Kirby Baker, F. Bradley, John, Frank and Charles Crabill, Nelson Hertel and Morgan Fortney were the neighborhood guests at the reception.


February 27, 1903:

Railroad News.
          Emmett Pancake, George Rabel, B. F. Worthman, and R. W. Shaw took employment as boilermaker helpers at the Wabash shops today.


November 15, 1916:

MONROEVILLE NEWS.
          Mrs. D. H. Crabill and daughters, the Misses Emma and Agnes Crabill, and Miss Georgia Crabill spent Sunday with Mrs. George Pancake and daughters, May and Alice.


May 19, 1917:

CONVOY NEWS.
         Mr. and Mrs. Abram Pancake and son, Russel, of Harrison township [Van Wert Co., Ohio], and Miss Katie Lare, who have been visiting Miss Lare's sister, Mrs. Anderson Holsinger, of Richmond, Ind., returned home.

Monroeville, Ind.
         Tuesday last a house belonging to G Pancake was destroyed by fire. The family succeeded in getting nearly all the contents out except what belonged to William Pancake. A subscription paper was circulated for the purpose of getting William a suit of clothes.

          Mr. George Pancake expects to build a new house in the place of the old one which burned a short time ago.

         Mrs. Joseph L. Pancake, of Topeka, Ind., is visiting her daughter, Miss Grace Pancake, of this city.


June 26, 1913

A Country Party.

         A good time was enjoyed on Sunday, June 22, by a company of relatives at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Pancake, who live five miles south of the city. The guests were the parents and other close relatives of Mr. Pancake, from near Convoy, Ohio. They arrived at the Pancake home with well filled baskets of dinner and a feast of good things was spread that would do justice to many more people. There were present Mr. and Mrs. Allen Pancake, Mr. and Mrs. Abe Pancake, Mr. and Mrs. James Pancake, Mr. and Mrs. Will Pancake, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pancake, Mr. and Mrs. George Bummel [sic, Rummel], Miss Itura Pancake, Theadore Krohn, Russell Pancake and the following children: Donald, Clarence, Wilbur, Harold, Lela, Ada, Dorothy and Leona Pancake. Music was furnished by Miss Itura Pancake and Mrs. Will Pancake.

         Eva Pancake, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Pancake, south of Convoy [Van Wert Co., Ohio], and Jacob Scott were quietly married at the home of the bride Thursday morning.

         Abraham Pancake and wife, of Van Wert, Ohio, are the guests of Joseph Pancake and wife, of Topeka [Lagrange Co., Indiana].
