Dorothy D. Pankake, of 11000 Hwy. 10, Rice, died at the age of 76 on June 22, 1993 at her home. She had been ill for the past four months.
     Formerly of Litchfield, she and her husband, Boyd, had owned and operated Pankake Grocery in the southeast part of Litchfield for several years. She had also worked for 3M from 1954 until 1981.
     Dorothy Delores was born to August and Inga Mathilda (Erickson) Johnson in Dassel on September 15, 1916. She and her first husband, Axel William Ross, were married in Dassel. On May 21, 1959 Dorothy married Boyd Leslie Pankake in Webster, SD.
     Fr. Peter Nosbush officiated the Mass of Christian Burial at the Catholic Church of St. Philip's in Litchfield on June 24. Marsha Goraczkowski was the organist with musical selections by the Resurrection Choir.
     Pallbearers were Ralph Danielson, Dale Danielson, Vernon Wolff, Keith Johnson, Charles Ailie and Craig Johnson. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Litchfield.
     Surviving are three daughters, Sue Ann (Mrs. Frank) Fagel of Rice, Dianne Dorothy (Mrs. Bruce) Jones of Chester, AR, and Rose Marie Nelson of Long Beach, CA; a son William E. (and Patricia) Ross of Helena, MT; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
     Her husband; a son, Curtis Ross; her parents; three brothers, John, Harold and Alden and three sisters, Ina, Pauline and Muriel preceded her in death.
     Arrangements were with the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home of Litchfield.
