Dewey Wortz, 74, of Watkins, died Jan. 17 at the Cokato Nursing Home. He suffered a stroke in October and had been in failing health ever since.
Dewey Wortz, son of the late J. Andrew and Emma Wortz, was born Oct. 23, 1899 in Forest Prairie Township. He had spent his entire life on the family farm south of Watkins. He was united in marriage to Lucille E. Pancake at St. Cloud, Minn. on Dec. 2, 1924.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Jeanette) Cram of Minneapolis, Mrs. Lawrence (Cheryl) Lund of Estherville, Ia., Mrs. Larry (Nancy) Boreen of Grove City; three sons-in-law; 10 grandchildren, Duane, Steven and David Kahmeyer, Dana, Susan, and Jeanna Lund, Renae, Timmy, Jason and Deanna Boreen; and four great grandchildren, Rhonda, Darren, Troy and Traci Kahmeyer.
Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Pennertz of Litchfield, Mrs. Louise Donnay and Mrs. John Cameron of Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, seven brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services were held Jan. 21 at Ostmark Lutheran Church, rural Watkins, with the Rev. Larry Tantow officiating. Mrs. Roger Carlson, soloist, sang, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "How Great Thou Art", Mr. John Kling was the organist. Interment was in the Ostmark Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Duane, Steven, and David Kahmeyer, Dana Lund, William and David Johnson.
Relatives and friends attending the funeral were from Minneapolis, Litchfield, Kimball, Watkins, Grove City, Cokato, Atwater, Estherville, Ia., and Denver, Colo.
