Obituary of Campbell Pancake, Jr.

HARRISONBURG - Campbell Pancake Jr., 91, of Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Community, and formerly of Romney, W.Va., died Friday (May 19, 2000) at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
He was born on April 22, 1909, in Romney, a son of Campbell and Eliza (Hutcheson) Pancake.
He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, and earned his bachelor of arts degree from Hampden Sydney College in 1930.
Prior to retirement, he worked as a farm equipment dealer for Hampshire Truck and Implement Company.
He was a member of the Romney Presbyterian Church and of the Ruritan Club, having a record of 44 years of perfect attendance. He was also a member and past president of the Staunton Rotary Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Emily Campbell Pancake of Richmond and Martha Pancake Cordray of Fairmont, W.Va. five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Erna Weber Pancake and Helen Rowan Pancake his daughter, Elizabeth Pancake Smith and his sister, Mary Moore Pancake Mandeville.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Thornrose Cemetery by the Revs. John S. Franklin and Paul O'Gorek. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. June 2 at the Romney Presbyterian Church in Romney.
The family will be receiving friends Tuesday at Henry Funeral Home one hour prior to the graveside service.
