There is this muffler shop next door to the AA club house in PDC. You gotta
respect their embracing of thrift. I've got a salesman's luggage cart,
rated at 300 Lbs that had a weld break on the way down this year. I
finally took it to the guys and they re-welded the break VERY nicely for
only $4. Great place to shop at 4th and 25th.

One of the AA tourist gals mentioned that she and her husband
had a VW camper at home and I asked the year. She said
she wasn't sure and someone else asked if it was like the Taco-Combi on 12th
and she said maybe newer. I had to go see the one on 12th and. . . . voilà

Best seen at night.

The time may be coming where we see these little Pontiac/Fiat sub-compacts
from Korea marketed StateSide.

Talk about pretty money. This is a 10 Peso coin, worth about $1. It's
almost as thick a two US Quarters.

This is a vendors desk in the Chedraui food store. I like the monitor
being mounted under the glass panel in the desk top. Much easier for
me to look at all day because of my tri-focals.

A Manchurian gal (via London) on my mailing list was looking for an apartment and
I wanted to show her these pink ones on 2nd just west of 10th. I was
offered a Studio with bath for $300/mo. It's right next to an excellent
Dollar/dip Chinese restaurant.

Some Pals in the Cities (Minneapolis) let me use their tire machine
from time to time and this was like seeing a familiar face in a crowd.
Exact same Coat's brand machine.

I'm hoping someone out there can identify this bug for us.

Who said these Mayans have no
sense of humor.

Here is a look down 4th to the beach, and Cozumel in the distance (9 mi).

I
belong to the local chapter of the Human Powered Vehicle Assn (HPVA) in
Minneapolis. It's a group of men and women who have a variety of
interests in HPV's and our group's principle focus is recumbent
bicycles. We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 PM at the
Nokomis Community Center in Minneapolis. All are Welcome. Here is a
recumbent tricycle ridden by a regular PDC Winter visitor from
Minneapolis I've not met through the club.

Actually,
I spotted that trike on my way to have a send off breakfast with
Richard and Cindy. My next stop was the ferry dock. The boat ride to CZ
is $10, plus $5 to the stevedores for loading all my luggage plus the
Triciclo.

And then. . . . Adios to you, Playa Del Carmen.

The Cozumelino stevedore 'Catchers' wanted another $5 to off load all my crap and you couldn't get me to do it for that.

It seems almost a tradition for me to come down with some sort of bug in PDC as
I move to CZ and I had a headache and fever as I arrived and it took a
few days to shake it. During that time I caught this CZ bug.
=)

This next one is longer and just as stylish.
I come to CZ and stay longer for a variety of reasons. One is I love cars and like the VW most.
I also believe 'anything done well is art.'

Every
year there seems to be a new construction program and this year they
are burying all the wiring in the central city as well as
re-configuring the streets and sidewalks into shopping avenues for the
convenience of the tourists. Here is how they are burying the wires.

If
my late grandmother Hazel was concerned about her appearance she'd say
'I must look like the wreck of the Hesperus'. I thought of her when
a bunch of us got together for a send off dinner for an AA's parents at a VERY nice restaurant with a sailing ship motif.

Here is another car we may see stateside.

Despite
all the loving care my Triciclo has gotten there was still a noise in
the crank axle and it finally got worse. I was in hopes a cleaning and
adjustment might cure it but Nooooo. In the end the shop replaced the
axles, bearings and races. That sounds expensive and at home
would have
been. There must be a federal subsidy here for bike parts and labor
since bikes are such a vital component to the local transportation
scheme. In any event, this last repair cost $7.50, parts and labor. I
gave the mechanico a $2.50 tip because he let me help. =)
Most of my mechanic friends back home will tell you how arduous it can be having me help with anything.
P.S.
This is THE place for bike repair. They are located a few doors South of Juarez on 30th.

Well it may have been a short page for you but the end of a hell of a week for me.
so. . . .
Here comes a dive boat, returning it's happy passengers at the end of a long day on the reef.

And soon the happy crew will head for their own dock and home.
