Week Four
Dec 02, 2007Lets start this week off with a personal note on hygiene.
I've
not been to a laundromat since I got here. Each evening I put that
day's clothes and a spoon of detergent in a bucket in the shower and
let it fill with hot water. I then do a Mexican hat dance with
alternating feet in the
bucket as I shower. Not only are my clothes cleaned but my feet too
(sometimes I even wear my 'Crocs'). I
rinse and wring each item out three times and hang them all up to dry
overnight. I tried using the mop wringer but it's not nearly as quick
or effective as just hand wringing. A mechanical mop squeezer may work
better but I've not found one to try.

I've
stopped by the VW Kit Car compound a couple times to get more
information about buying one. I seem to be a pretty low priority for
them despite their claim of currently needing some liquidity. I'd like to get in touch with the builder to see about replacing that one headlight cover.

On this last Kit-Car excursion I returned by some side streets and passed this gated apartment building.

I visited that great old low cost beach front seafood restaurant again. They are on 2nd and the beach.

Notice the shells set into their concrete steps.

Talk about creative, check out the urinals in the mens room.
(Yes, those are lime slices)

Did I mention the food is excellent and service friendly?
I think I've seen these wings back home.
=)

One
of our local AA members celebrated a year of sobriety this week and had
a fabulous get-together at his Coffee Cafe after the meeting. If the
splendor of the buffet reflected his gratitude, he was pretty darned
thankful.

This is the hand sink in the Men's room; A can only imagine what was on the Ladies side.

On
my way to my Root Canal finale I passed this beautifully walled vacant
lot that has fallen into the hands of yet another developer.

Here is the original hallmark in the sidewalk pictured above. It's over a foot in diameter.

and of course I couldn't let this staircase pass by.

I
know it seems like I'm dragging my feet to the Root Canal but I just
happened to take an interesting route. How did they ever get this thing
off the trailer?

OK,
I did finally arrive at Dr Judith's office and we went at it. She used
the blue membrane again to prevent any saliva contamination and removed
the temporary filling. Yes, she did use the Novocaine again. Once the
filling was out she used the augers again to remove the medicated taper.

The sanitized canal was sealed with another medication and finally dried out with a little blotting paper rod.

Then she started packing the canal solid with fine Gutta Percha tapers.

She
used a small blunt soldering pencil like tool to melt off the surplus
tapers, pack them in good and seal the canal opening. That was followed
with the permanent composite filling.
Here are the participants in this little enterprise.
Dr Judith in pink, Laura the interpreter on the left and me with a one sided Novocaine smile.
Aren't those women lovely?

On the way to the AA clubhouse I pass this corner each day and finally realized this store is a dental supply.

I stopped in and got a little better look at the Snap-Ring pliers and tooth grips.

An
AA pal had to have a new battery put in his car and the job took so
long the radio thought the power interruption was a burglary and
refused to wake up without a security code. The Honda dealer gave a
'breath taking' estimate for removing the radio to get it's serial number
to submit to get the security code. I sent a picture of the radio to a
couple Acura savvy mechanics to see if there was an alternative.

So far the most encouraging response has been:
"You can sometimes see the radio id by laying on your back under the dashlooking up at the radio. Otherwise, pulling the radio sucks! "
-and-
If he doesn't have the code card that came with the radio, the radio will have to
be
removed. We put a code sticker inside the glove box on our new cars,
but not all dealers do this. If he bought the car new, his dealer may
have the number on file.==============
There is a web
author migrating from PDC to Panama who was asking about getting some
videos done of her two condo's to help sell them. I volunteered to do
some fish-eye work and discovered the wife of the Acura owner working
at the property management office that had the condo keys. Small world.
All of that is to explain this page of pictures.

I visited the stylish $/dip oriental restaurant for Currie night and 'my but they do it well'.
Plus a little session on their WiFi.
The owner is a lovely Chinese gal from London. She says Currie is becoming the national dish in the UK.

I'm
expecting to be on Cozumel next week so here are the absolute last of the
Sunrise pix. I got these off the Hotel roof a couple mornings ago.
