Week 12b
On a riany morning I set out to kill another
day in Paradise. It seems like I end up working them to death
sometimes. =) I had a great $2 breakfast at the Mission and on
the
way out I noticed their chopping blocks. Gotta cut up a lot of steaks
to
wear a hole like that in a 2 inch plank.

Last week when I had Javier remove the auxilary hose and mouthpiece
from my regulator
he mentioned that Scubapro made a
secondary mouthpiece that is incorporated into the inflation valve for
the buoyancy compensator vest. He had an older used one he showed me
that needed an obsolete and discontinued
part. He suggested trying eBay if I was interested,
and I did. I found one that
was missing a plastic cover for it's exhaust valve and
darned if Javier didn't have one in stock so a few days later I bid on
the outfit. . .
. and won,

With the rest of the day before me I rode back out to Javiers place to
buy that little cover. On the way I passed this local sailboat and had
to take a few pix. What lovley lines. I think it's a fishing boat and
the first one I've
seen that's not outboard powered.

For some reason the cement roof on the top floor here at Blanquita's
leaks in places and the rebar starts to rust and swell. The swollen
rusty rebar next door
has
cracked the textured stucco ceiling and caused more leaks as well
as some blistering and flaking. The cure is for a cheerful determined
workman to come in and spend three days with a hammer and chisel
removing the stucco layer. Man, working over your head like that, all
day, has got to be agony. Today he just finished the chiseling, cleaned
up the rusty rebar and painted it. Next comes sifting sand
through nylon window screen for the plaster that is to be slung up on
to the bare ceiling for a textured look. These people sure know some
shit about hard work!

Here it is a couple days later.

Apparently it's still a little gray in Minneapolis this week. Here's a
parting
glimps of the sun for those hungering for it.
