Week 10a
In
Minneapolis on
Wednesday nights I go to an AA 'Big Book' study group.
We read
out of the book and comment on the reading's significance to us.
At the end of
the meeting we observe sobriety anniversaries with the presenting of a
birthday cupcake, or whatever (or WHATEVER--OK?) with a candle in it,
to
the celebrant and sing
'Happy Birthday' in joyous discord. We all take great delight
in doing it our own way !
While visiting the super-duper supermarket, Chedraui, last Wednesday I
saw
this lone chair for sale and it was a perfect match for the chairs we
use at that BB meeting. I sat in it for a minute and then continued my
shopping, humming the Birthday song in the most discorded way.
=)

Here
is a local tiger enjoying the warmth of the concrete on a cool evening.
(Yah, it must be down to around 74 tonight !)

Blue Angel dive hotel, and the boatyard with the Travel-Lift, are
neighbors. While
visiting Blue Angel I watched this Iron Worker next door work on re-bar
rings to be used to reinforce concrete pilings they are going to 'pour
in place' for the new pier at that boatyard. He has taken a foot long
chunk of inch and
a half re-bar and cut a crosswise slot in it. He nailed that one foot
chunk down solid and uses it as a mandrel to bend the loops. He's been
doing this kind of work long enough that it's become mindless and his
accuracy is amazing. You can see part of a pile of completed rings
behind him.

While visiting the air filling plant to pick up my Scuba tank I noticed
their 'Menu' on the wall and thought I'd pass it along for those
interested. The prices are in pesos and 'rental' is using their tanks
with a 500 peso refundable deposit. 'Particular' is using the customers
tank. At 10.50 pesos to the dollar it's about $1.10 usd per fill for
me. Pretty cheap entertainment.

This next shot is just to drive Rosalba and you hippies crazy. At first
sight it appears that electrical transformer has leaked it's oily
PCB's onto the street below but. . . . . if that were really true why
not leak
it on the sidewalk too. I think someone in the neighborhood just
habitually parks their leaky old car in the same spot each night.

I spotted this nice old Chev up the hill from my place and really
liked the roll bar and tie down rails on it. Clean.

Looking on over the crest of that hill, this cruise ship appears to be
headed right up the street.

Since we opened this page with an AA item lets close with another AA
sunset. This was taken from inside the clubhouse.
