2009 INFORMATION

Our classmate Catherine 'Kay' Lange passed away the first of February in Denver.  Services were held in Alexandria.  Classmate Karen (Bruzik) Collins passed away at home in Osakis the end of February.

2008 INFORMATION

Our classmate Elsie (Buelke) Jantzen passed away in April; survived by husband Delmer, eight children, and 20 grandchildren.  Services were in Alexandria.

Annette, Pat, and Beah planned an AHS '56 Class reunion in the Phoenix area for March 28/29 of 2008. Although only a few participated, they all had fun - will congregate again next year.  A booklet is available upon request from Lowell.  A CD with snapshots and music is available from Annette.  They sent e-mail invitations or U.S. Mail invitations to all class members.  A couple of mailed items were returned as 'unable to forward.'  If you read this and know where the following are now living [ROMELL (Johnson) BUER, GERDES (Hoium) ZIMMERMAN, AVIS (Nelson) AHLBRECHT], contact Annette (Evju) Murphy via e-mail or call her - Home: 623-322-1970, Cell: 602-315-4805.

Jackie (Pennar) and Jim Neilson visited with Dave Hewitt in Australia in January.  Harris Haugen moved from Co. Rd. 11 to Long Prairie last fall.

2007 INFORMATION

Since the 2006 reunion, I've received a new e-mail addresses for Duane Bakke, Don Bundy, Gary Ignowski, Kay Isaacson, Jim Johnson, Art Krueger, Pat Nelson, Dan Ness, Carol Van Amber- contact me if you'd like an updated class e-mail list.  When doing the class booklet for the 50th, I missed that Art had moved to the Big Island of Hawaii - also missed that Kay (Sheridan) Isaacson lives in Maple Grove, MN.  Duane and Leta Bakke have moved back to Alexandria, living by Lake Brophy.

This year marked the passing of our friend and classmate Kathleen (Blaisdell) Bussard.

Long range thoughts - I'll do an update of the booklet from our 50th in February/March 2008.  Send me a note with your personal entry updates.  If you've lost your booklet, I could send you an electronic copy of your page entry.  Or, the committee donated color copies to the Douglas County Library, the Douglas County Historical Society, and the Jefferson HS library.

2006 INFORMATION

12/23/06:  Happy New Year to all, new e-mail and mailing address for Romell (Johnson) Buer,

11/14/06:  Darrel Van Amber passed away on October 19th, our prayers are with Carol as she works through this stressful period of her life.  We should all be thankful for his and her coordination of the best ever re-union this past July.  Our condolences to Dale Schneiderhan whose father passed away on November 8th.
I have a new e-mail address for Don and Shirley Bundy,.  Since newer browsers can directly read the contents of *.pdf files, I'm removing it from on-line accessibility.

9/20/06: Our condolences to Sandra (Aldrich) Kalina whose father passed away this week.

Tom Bradford passed away on August 30th, 2006 - our sympathies are with Roseanna as her mother had also passed away just two days earlier.

July 22, 2006:  Annette, Beah and Pat formed an ad hoc committee to schedule a class get together two or three years hence; then again in 2012, a 'Class of 56' fifty-sixth reunion - committee members are needed!  Lowell was appointed to support them.  Please contact Annette, Beah, or Lowell when your U.S. mail or e-mail address changes.

Sadly, our classmate Walter Simonson succumbed to ALS on May 20, 2006.  Our condolences to his wife Sandy, daughters, and grandchildren.

2006 REUNION STATUS

WOW, we had a fantastic turnout for our July 21 & 22 reunion events.  The biggest surprise was Friday evening when Jennice (Wussow) Guajardo dropped in.  She had been out of touch for 30 years.  Over 87 people attended on Friday evening, 54 came to the picnic at Hudson's on Lake Miltona Saturday noon, then we served 154 people on Saturday evening (90 of them classmates.)  The highlight was Norman Anderson's restored 1956 Cadillac displayed at three events.   79% participation counting events and booklet requests made this the most successful ever class reunion!  Thanks to everyone!

I'm happy to state that we have a current mailing address for all  classmates.  Only 32 classmates (20.7%) didn't respond to the invitation or reminder postcard.  Our booklet was printed in b/w for cost reasons - if you want to read or re-print in color, download an update here! We have heard (albeit indirectly) from two others since the celebration.

December '02: Per a classmate's request, here are words to go with the music:
"Cheer Oh Cheer for Alex, Shout 'til the rafters ring
Yell oh yell for our team, Alexandria ... rah rah rah
Never give up hope boys, fight until we win
always looking onward, doing the best we can

We can beat old ____, as we've done before
and we can help our team by shouting, Alexandria ... rah rah rah
Fight for dear old Alex, and we'll win this game
