Icelandic Family Gathering
Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 2:00pm to 4:00 pm
St John the Evangelist Episcopal Church gymnasium, 60 Kent Street, St. Paul, MN 55102
- focus on the fall, farm animals, bringing the sheep home from the mountain, folk tales, singing, crafts, reading, putting on a play, and having fun in Icelandic!
The Icelandic Family Gathering was a great success. Thanks to Katrin and Sigga, the gathering of the sheep was well planned. Children made their sheep which were placed around the room. Each child found a sheep and had to bring it the gathering spot, a corral of sorts, like in Iceland. The story of the sheep returning to their farms was shared. There was singing, dancing, sharing of books, folk tales, games, a play on the stage. Of course, an Icelandic gathering would not be complete with out coffee and food that was shared. Everyone had a wonderful time, even the adults!
Thank you so much to the planners and those executing the day which includes: Katrin Sigurdardottir, Sigga Gudmundsdottir, Binna Veigarsdottir, and Pall Skaftason. |
