Mission
:
v
To promote Icelandic culture, past and present
v
To support events
that celebrate Icelandic culture
v
To provide an
organization for anyone interested in
Iceland
A Brief History:
Founded in 1994, the
Association offers a group for men, women, and families interested in
Iceland
to
join and participate. It promotes
Icelandic tradition and culture as well as fellowship among its members. See the calendar of events for a current
schedule of IAAMN activities. Some of
the events the Association hosts:
v
The Þhorrablót each February (the month of Þorri). This gala banquet features the traditional ðorramatur (traditional
Icelandic food), music, a program, and fellowship. A wonderful time is always had by all who
attend.
v
The 17th of June Picnic in June
v
The Leif Erikkson Day dinner in October
v
The annual Jólabarnaball and Icelandic
Christmas Servicefor families in December
We are active
members of the Icelandic National League. The Val Bjornson Scholarship for the Exchange Program between the
Universities of Minnesota and
Iceland
has also greatly benefited from the Association's hard work. The Association is a
Minnesota
