Gleðileg jól! At the Jólabarnaball Icelandic Christmas party, we dance around the Christmas tree according to Icelandic custom. Then, the Jólasveinar or Yuletide Lads arrive! As always, there is ample Icelandic food.
- Gleðileg jól og farsælt nýtt ár!

| Jólabarnaball this year was held on December 4, from 1 - 4 PM, at Knights of Columbus, Bloomington. Thanks to all who helped out, and attended! And on December 18, 2011, the Icelandic Christmas Service, at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, featured superb musicians, and the choir! Last year we had deep snow, this year warmth and sunshine! |
Íslensk messa, Sunnudaginn, 19 Desember 2010: After a week of snow-shovelling, we had a beautiful 2010 Icelandic Christmas Service at the Chapel of the Incarnation at the Olson Campus Center of the Luther Seminary. Included in the service were a meaningful sermon, several readings, and hymns such as Heims um bol. Presiding were The Rev. Daniel J. Simundson, Professor Emeritus of Old Testament, The Rev. Eygló Bjarnardóttir, Reader Hrund Þórarinsdóttir, and Orgelleikari Mary Josefson. A good crowd was in attendance, and many were pleased to also be able to purchase Icelandic calendars, coffee, skyr, and other Icelandic foods. |
| 2010: We were all ready to have one of the best Jólabarnaballs ever, and we decided to have a historic snow storm instead. So, the event was cancelled, or at least postponed. Thanks to all who worked so hard to prepare. |
