A Social Hour will start us off with an Icelandic Cod dinner at 6:30 PM.

The dinner will include Icelandic cod, chicken, new potatoes, peas, herring, mashed rutabaga, cucumber salad, beet salad, shrimp, and an assortment of Icelandic delicacies ( ̃orramatur ).  Aquavit and Icelandic Reyka vodka will be available.

A short IAAMN Business meeting to elect IAAMN Board members will follow and then an entertaining program, including the Leroy Larsen ensemble.

The cost will be $30.00 per person.  All registrations need to be to Doug Rutford by end-of-day on Thursday, February 14th.  We need to let the Shrine Center know the attendance on Friday the 15th so they can place the food order.

Welcome to the Icelandic-American Association of Minnesota

Mission:

v    To promote Icelandic culture, past and present

v    To support events that celebrate Icelandic culture

v    To provide an organization for anyone interested in Iceland

A Brief History:

Founded in 1994, the Association offers a group for men, women, and families interested in Iceland to join and participate.  It promotes Icelandic tradition and culture as well as fellowship among its members.   See the calendar of events for a current schedule of IAAMN activities.  Some of the events the Association hosts:

v    The ̃horrablót each February (the month of ̃orri).  This gala banquet features the traditional đorramatur (traditional Icelandic food), music, a program, and fellowship.  A wonderful time is always had by all who attend.

v    The 17th of June Picnic in June

v    The Leif Erikkson Day dinner in October

v    The annual Jólabarnaball and Icelandic Christmas Servicefor families in December

We are active members of the Icelandic National League.    The Val Bjornson Scholarship for the Exchange Program between the Universities of Minnesota and Iceland has also greatly benefited from the Association's hard work.    The Association is a Minnesota non-profit corporation.
