March with your parish, religious community, or organization
Parishes, religious communities, and organizations are encouraged to march as a group and bring banners or flags.

Is your parish having a procession or other special observance for Corpus Christi?
If so, make sure it is listed here.

“It is divine love that transforms [the bread and wine]: the love with which Jesus accepts, in anticipation, to give the whole of Himself for us....
Let us all, priests and faithful, nourish ourselves with the same Eucharist, let us all prostrate ourselves to adore It, because in It our Master and Lord is present, the true Body of Jesus is present in It, the Victim and the Priest, the salvation of the world. Come let us exult with joyful songs! Come, let us adore him! Amen.”

—Pope Benedict XVI, Homily for Corpus Christi, June 3, 2010.

Procession Route
The faithful will gather in the beautiful backyard gardens of the Little Sisters of the Poor (330 Exchange St. S., St. Paul). The clergy and religious will process the Blessed Sacrament into the gardens for a brief time of adoration. Then the procession will proceed through beautiful Irvine Park and city streets, up Kellogg Boulevard and Summit Avenue, to the Cathedral of St. Paul (Summit Ave. and Selby Ave.) for the homily and Benediction. The procession route is 1 mile. (Map with directions)

For those who are unable to walk the procession: Please join us for the homily, Benediction, and ice cream social at the Cathedral.

Strollers and accessibility
We encourage the use of strollers for infants or small children. The route is paved and all curbs have step-free ramps. At the Cathedral, there is a step-free ramp at the western door on the south (Selby Ave.) side.

In case of inclement weather
The event will take place regardless of the weather. In the case of heavy and continuous rain, the entire event will take place at the Cathedral. You are encouraged to bring an umbrella, because we will walk in procession if there is only light and occasional showers (in which case we would start in the Little Sisters’ auditorium).

Priests and Deacons
The clergy vesting room is near the Little Sisters’ Holy Family chapel. Vesture is alb or cassock and surplice. Priests may wear a cope and deacons may wear a dalmatic. (Clergy will need to supply their own vestments.) Procession line-up is at 1:50 p.m. outside the chapel.

Religious
Religious are invited to gather in the chapel for silent adoration before the Blessed Sacrament solemnly exposed. Clergy and religious will process with the Blessed Sacrament into the backyard garden for the opening ceremony.

Other local Eucharistic processions and events

“The devout participation of the faithful in the Eucharistic procession on the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ is a grace from the Lord which yearly fills with joy those who take part in it.”

“In the humble signs of bread and wine, changed into His body and blood, Christ walks beside us as our strength and our food for the journey, and He enables us to become, for everyone, witnesses of hope. If, in the presence of this mystery, reason experiences its limits, the heart, enlightened by the grace of the Holy Spirit, clearly sees the response that is demanded, and bows low in adoration and unbounded love.”

—Pope John Paul II, encyclical letter Ecclesia de Eucharistia (Holy Thursday 2003), nn. 10 and 62.
