I put this page up to answer some of the questions that many People have asked about me and the Green buggy project.

The FAQ

1. What is the status of the car now?
A. I am starting to put it back together. The front suspension is nearly done, as is the tranny rebuild. The pan was completely sandblasted by foremost body shop, and will have new pans welded in shortly. The body went to foremost monday 6/26 and will be painted 6/30. I started butchering the pans for welding in 6/28 and have them clamped down. Will weld in and paint soon - 6/29.

2. When is the goal finish date?
A. The end of july 2000 for the Wright County Fair. I plan on showing this car next June at the west side volkswagen car show.

3. How about some general info about the car?
A. Okay, here is some: The car body is an uknown fiberglass dune buggy body, but it is beleived to be a red Berrien Buggy Nostalgia. It is based on the shortened pan of a 1959 VW Sedan, and the original engine is an '59 single port VW 1600 engine. The new engine is from a '62 VW, and is also a mostly stock single port 1600.

4. What came with the car when you came to own it?
A. A Teak wood and chrome steering wheel, Bugpack cooling fan screen and belt cover, JC whitney skid plate and bumpers, 60's style VW bug tail light (only one), a lot of rust, moss and garbage.

5. What will be added to this car when it's finished?

6. The front page has a yellow car on it. What the hell?
A. While the buggy is still yellow, it will shortly be painted a glossy green color

7. How big is it?
A. About the size of a vw bug, minus about about foot in length, and slightly wider.

8. Is this street legal?
A. Yes, although a few people have insisted that this is really just a big go cart. It has previously been registered, although it hasn't gotten new tabs since about 1983.
