Space Flights Descriptions
1. Gemini 8 Lost control after docking with Gemini Agena Target Vehicle 8
Apollo 1 / AS-204
(Cancelled)
First Backup Crew for the first Apollo C mission
The crew died when a fire swept through the Apollo CSM-102 spacecraft during a preflight test for the Apollo AS-204 mission, one month before launch. The mission was renamed Apollo 1 at the request of Grissom's widow.
Apollo AS-207
(Cancelled)
Proposed Prime Crew for the Apollo D mission
Two separate Saturn 1B launches would have put the Apollo CSM-101 spacecraft / AS-207 and Lunar Module LM-2 / AS-208 in to orbit for the first planned manned test space flight of the Apollo Lunar Module. After the cancellation of the Apollo AS-205 mission, the Saturn 1B AS-205 booster replaced the Saturn 1B AS-207 booster for the Apollo CSM-101 launch. After the Apollo 1 fire, it was decided to launch the mission on a single Saturn V. Apollo 9 completed the objectives of the Apollo D mission, and the Apollo CSM-101 spacecraft was used for the Apollo 7 mission.
