Proposed Skylab Rescue Mission
In 1977 the space shuttle was planned to start flying in 1979. The second shuttle mission would attached a propulsion module to the Skylab space station to boost the station's orbit for later use or to deorbit Skylab into the empty (Pacific?) ocean. However, problems with developing the space shuttle delayed the first flight into 1981 after Skylab's reentry on July 11, 1979.
